Fantic 300 Ignition Problem

I've got a 1984 300, hasn't run for about 5 years, did get "wet" that led to starting problems....cleaned up stator plate but now wants to attemp to break ankles (kickback) instead of starting. Took apart and set up rotor/ignition plate in lathe to simulate spinning and couldn't make a spark. Have changed HT coil. I've been told that a stator plate from a Vespa or a Gas Gas will replace the original "ZEM" unit. Can the pickup coil alone be purchased? Spring in Ontario, I have 100 acres of forested land being wasted....

Contact these folks (great references , I've heard ) http://www.westcountrywindings.co.uk/

I believe they can sort out your issues , And I'm not gonna go near the whole set up on a lathe thing ... To many variables to even consider ...

And when you get your bits back , set it up with a new kill switch and all new wires , inc. plug lead and boot . If it's kicking back you've got the timing way to advanced I think .?
