Alright so yesterday I tore the pina apart and gave it a good carb cleaning fluid change and overall inspection. and as such am left with a few more questions, 1st) can anyone tell me more about how my vin decodes? it is PB11501532 and motor is PM11501532 What is the difference in the numbers?????, 2nd) who makes sprockets for the 74 bultacos? looking for a while and getting frustrated lmfao!!!!, 3rd) it idles great but coughs and will not rev at all, I suspect it is an ignition issue, points condernser and or timing<-------....... 4th) for this gen what would be required for a proper sherpa conversion? Thanks for all the help guys!

The first three numbers are the year /model type ie.115 Is the chain 5/16 or the larger 3/8 type as they changed about this time The internal gear ratios on the Alpino are different to that of the Sherpa If are fitting new points and condenser fit the condenser under the tank next to the coil

Problem sound more like carby to me (maybe pilot jet blocked)

Depends what you mean by proper Sherpa conversion

Sprockets available from Bultaco parts suppliers in Spain, the USA, UK and Australia and probably many other places. One supplier in the USA is located in New York State and I'm sure of you google Bultaco Parts you will find them

Your 115 Alpina is quite removed from the 1974 Sherpa T in design. The first model Alpina is much closer to being a Sherpa T than yours. At the bare minium you need Sherpa T triple clamps of the type to suit your fork tops to get the steering to work. Alpina gearbox is OK for trials if you get a big enough rear sprocket, but top speed will be low. Your brake hubs are heavy compared with Sherpa T and the tank is bulky. It all depends how good you want it to be for trials.

The VIN codes just say it is a M115 Alpina which means it is the second generation of Alpina and is a 250cc. Your codes do match - PB means frame number and PM means motor number

Thanks for the info! I am certian there is no blockage on the pilot cir. as it flows well on the bench and idles well, so I was assuming ignition because off idle to full i have no response..... shouldn't the main jet take over aroud 2/3 open????? and yes main is clear as well.... as far as gearing goes I dont mind having no top end speed because I will just be plunking around my 5 acre trials course, as such still have had a hell of a time finding sprockets, called everyone i could think of ie.. sprocket specialist, afam, renthal...etc so any other help would be great!!!

If the bike has a Mk2 amal, the tunning problems will more than likely be related to the needle and needle jet wearing. The needle wears the needle jet oval and the bike will be impossible to tune, it will run poorly from about 1/4 throttle up, the slide also wears but does not prevent you from tunning it. As has been stated it is well worth replacing the points and condenser just to be on the safe side. The 'B' is bastidor, spanish for frame

Cheers Greg
