wrmec
hello. i have just been out on my bike for the first time in a while. and after about 5 minutes i notices what i think was water coming out of the flywheel cover where the ignition wires come out, i took the cover off and a tiny bit of this liquid came out but not much. can anyone tell me what the problem couls be, will it be water and will it be something to do with the waterpump or seals? thank you. by the way my bike is a gas gas txt pro 300 2006. steve_earle
Hi, could be water from power washing or just condensation, Will be nothing to do with the waterpump as the pro's run an external waterpump. Best thing to do is leave the cover off to dry it out then replace it with a smear of silicone to seal it in future.
tankygsy
I agree with above. It wouldn't hurt to remove the stator from the motor completely and brush on a couple of coats of epoxy or winding varnish. As long as its sealed it will continue to produce current even if its nigh on fully submerged in water - but old coatings crack and peel off so recoating it from time to time is a good idea.
