2003 Txt Pro Problems

Hi all,

Its now the second sunday in a row I've had my txt in bits.

Last week it was due to a knackered little end, this week its done the water pump seal.

Unfortunatly on draining the milk from the gearbox i noticed a bit of swarf on the sump plug.

I've pulled the clutch cover off and on taking the pressure plate/spring out found lots of metallic/gloopy mess, but the rest of the case seems pretty clear on this side? The friction plates are all in one piece too.

Has anyone ever came accross this before??

I've also notice the wiring loom is pretty butchered and wouldn't mind getting a new loom knocked up, but I'll need a wiring diagram for that, does anyone know where I can get a workshop manual from?

Any help would be appriciated and go some way in extinguishing the flames of my baptism of fire into trials biking.

Regards,

Carl.

Regarding the little end - how much oil do you put in your petrol. I get a bit of flak on this forum for my view that 70:1 is far too lean a ratio. I think 30:1 or 40: is muchg better. How well do you look after your air cleaner?

In my view the gas gas gearboxes are a bit near the limit of light design and need good oil, frequently changed to protect them. Some peole use ATF Dexron II or Dexron IID which is in my opinion not up to the job. Dexron III may be better but I would go with Putoiline recommendation of Ester tech 10w40, or maybe their gp nano transmission oil. If you drain the oil frequently you can let it stand for any bits of metal or clutch particles to settle out then re use the upper 2/3 or 3/4.

Cheers

The clutch always has a lip of build up on it. The drain plug will usually have a small amount on it. If you ever have anything bigger on the magnet then you could be in for trouble. Sounds normal for a pro motor.

Thank you chaps.

I'll clean it all out and chuck new frictions and steels in and just keep an eye on it.

I bought the bike with the little end problem and I dont know what it had been ran on before, but the fuel in the tank seemed very light on oil. Having raced a tzr 250, which my engine builder recommended 30:1 I dont dare go further than 50:1, it seems too much like tempting fate.

I'm running Putoline full sythetic 2-stroke, MX-7 I think and a light putoline gear oil.

Again, thanks for the help
