grumpyget
Hi Charlie Typical Rev 3 problem with the stators going. I had 3 stators go on my Rev 3's. Each time were genuine replacements from Beta. One only lasted 2 months! The last one supplied was in 2010 and seemed by then they had solved the new stator reliability/supply issue. The symtoms ranged from motor totally stopping and not going again through to motor stopping, then when cold it would start again and run ok till it was hot again. I didnt try a rewind so you may be OK if they upgrade the stator windings with better insulation etc. Good luck Grumpyget

pindie
A company now based in the south east but has a name from the west country is a windings specialist. They use thicker wire etc so should last longer. Take the cover off after washing to let it dry out. Don't worry about it during the days riding but they seem prone to condensation even if you seal it right. Just wash the casing if your not a cleaning freak, undo the three bolts and leave to air. A blast of GT85 won't hurt. From what I have had with mine it is impossible (unless lucky) to get no condensation in the cover. The windings rot from the inside out so you can't see it going wrong till it's too late. Air is your friend - use it!
chasmitch
thanks for the info i will definitely air it out,so do i assume the problem was with the stator and not with using the kill button,i am now waiting for the stator to come back from west country windings, they were very helpful and i recommend them to others
