I help runs a club up here in Scotland.

We seem to get plently over 40s and older and a good sprinking of Schoolpersons.

However we get next to no riders in the 20/30 age range.

Is this the norm across the country because in 10years time all the older guys will be packed up and I can't see the youngster filling the gaps.

Maybe it's just a Scottish thing.

My Son is 20 and still competes along with a few of his mates. Many of those he used to compete against have left the sport though. I have a Youth Program from a few years ago when he was B class and you'd probably only see a couple of them competing these days.

Economic situation. Schoolkids dont have to pay out of their own pocket dad does. Over 40's are probably lucky enough to have their kids left home and a low mortguage if any. 20/30 have more pressing things on their wallets and sadly trials has to take a back seat as to most people it's a non essential to surviving in this double dip recession. Rejoice that you are still getting a viable entry at all.

Not sure on that. At least one of them now Runs a Sierra Cosworth and a Lancer Evo "Drift" car. Most are busy earning cash and spending it on wine women and song though!

I agree with above been there seen it done it I married late so trial well into my 30s Then other things need time and cash and the job became ify That was in the mid 80s I moved on to Vintage stuff but kept the bike still have and returned to trial in my mid 50s Some younger riders drop out some move on to MX or Enduros.Your trial depends on which age group you aim for there was a few younger guys at a championship trial Some may even return with there own kids
