tomtom385
both the discs on my 04 beta have a bit of play where the disc bolts onto the hub. Can anyone advise? cheers, tom,

ducati996
There supposed to be like that, floating discs.
copemech
Many front hubs have metal inserts between the bolts and disks which allow it to float a bit. Many rear ones do not and you must inspect to see what you have, as if it is not designed to move, it should not!
pindie
The movement or floating bit is to allow for heat expansion when hot. Without the movement they would warp. Check they are floating though and not loose!
dan williams
They are supposed to move. Do NOT try to tighten them to stop them from moving. You will bung up your brakes and possibly break your hub. Yes I've seen both happen. The float allows the brakes to be self adjusting which helps them be very strong with minimal throw and much more consistant. goudrons
If there's too much float (cracking/knocking/creaking brake with a lot of movement when you apply it), the little top hats that fit between the bolts and the disc can be replaced. They are around £2 each and you need 4, though the bolts can be a pain to remove as they are threadlocked in. (Funny my 07 has gone like this, and I'm a Bexleyheath member?? Must be something in that stream at Burwash!)
