First Service Query

Bit of a silly question but i'd rather ask to be sure. I've just done my first service on the 4RT, oils and filter, when I put the new oil in I kicked the bike over slowly to get the oil around then started it, let it run for a minute then turned it off. When I checked the dipstick it was virtually dry and took about 10 minutes for the level to start to rise. Is this normal, does it take some time for the oil to get back to the sump or is something not right. I'm very paranoid about oil levels and automatically start to presume i've put something back wrong, filter or something, even though i triple check things as I go I start to question myself after.

Yes it's normal, there's not a lot of oil in there. Put it on a centre stand and leave it for 15-20 minutes, so that all the oil gets into the sump. Remember you check the oil level with the dipstick unscrewed, if it's low, top it up a little at a time. Level must be checked when hot. I've always had to top it up after an oil change having put the correct amount in for a oil and filter change. Use a syringe and clear piece of hose.

Cheers jj that's good to know, I was getting a bit worried there. It's a relief to hear that you put more oil in than is said, I put in the amount in the manual and it wasn't enough, thought I had a problem, phew :)
