ham2
My Montesa 242 had a fibre glass (?) seat and tank combo not an ally tank? Your 242 doesn't look like mine did, mine looked just like this (minus the trick shocks and silencer) http://images04.olx....4/5923954_1.jpg Your bike has wavy cylinder head fins and a chain drive on the opposite side to mine? Sorry, this doesn't help you locate what you need. Wayne Edit...I realise now,you have a 348 motor in there? Yes/no? scorpa250
Hi the bike in the picture is not mine , i would like a tank like that one fitted. It does have a 348 engine fitted . The 242 has a fiberglass tank and seat unit fitted not a alloy tank and fibre cover the 348 had that set up .The 242's in spain have a slimmer red plastic tank fitted that is also required if any out there ?? feetupfun
The red plastic tanked 242 is just the last model 242 and was not limited to Spain. Sorry I don't recognise the tank on that bitzer Montesa in the photo. The fuel spout on it makes me think it might have been made for fitting inside a fibreglass cover. Here is an Aussie 242 photo to show what the red plastic tank looks like Edited August 13, 2012 by feetupfun

ian640
I had a 242 with fibreglass tank and seat unit in 1984 and from memory around that time the plastic tank was available as an upgrade. You might try asking Sandifords if they have one new - you never know. Cheers, Ian.
