searay175
I was going to replace the exhaust pipe on my 85 TY (mono) and when tapping on the expansion box area losts of large pieces of tubular rust or what was baffle fell out. Will it effect the performance good or bad? I have the option to return it but they are tough to locate in the U.S.
bird
Hey, mine was pretty bad inside too, though no huge pieces fell out, But boy it is loud so suspect there is no baffling (that wadding stuff) inside. Read somewhere that they can be cut open, carefully, from the side facing into the frame and can be repacked with the baffling stuff or repaired, if you no longer has any 'guts' inside, and then re-welded closed again. I haven't done the cutting open thing yet as I have a new silencer which I hope will solve the noise issue once my bike is back on the road. Maybe ask a local exhaust making place if there's one nearby. If you're chasing a silencer I got mine from Sammy Miller Products in the UK and it is a beautiful thing. Good luck.
