scorpa 4 dean
Hi All, I have been having problems with my cooling fan. The blade keeps on popping off the motor spindle. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to secure it. I have tried liquid metal but only lasted a few days.
scorpa 4 dean
Sorry forgot to mention the bike is a Beta Rev 3 on a 2004
chris morris
This happened to my 2006 rev 3, ended up that the bearing in the motor was knackered and the blades were hitting the fan surround and then fan came off. replaced the bearing in the motor and roughed up the shaft and araldited the fan back on. didn't happen again. Think it was probably from washing the bike and not getting the bike warm enough for the fan to be running after.
scorpa 4 dean
Sounds good to me was the bearing easy to replace and source
chris morris
it was easy to source, £2 from local bearing supplier, think it's something like this. http://medias.ina.de...SR;aScWDHP6pn45 See how much sideways play there is on the shaft and if there's alot it'll need doing. From what i can remember it was a little tricky to do, had to remove half the motor then knock/prise the bearing out, then put new bearing in, but if it is knackered then have a go, it would save you £100+ for a new fan assembly. i had my bike for 18month after i did it and it never came off again. scorpa 4 dean
Thanks Chris, I will give it a go but would be much easier if someone was breaking a Beta and i could buy the fan. It breaks my heart to pay £100 + for a fan when there could be a easier solution.
