mick
Hi all, after a few years of talking about it I finally bought a twin shock, and here it is what a beauty!! http://www.normandym...ry/IMG_6444.JPG OK so its going to need a lot of work to get it right, however under all the grime frame and side panels are not that bad. The engine is going to need a complete rebuild and a barrel as that's missing, but for what I paid for it I expected that. My question to you guys that know, was there ever a SWM in this colour scheme as it seems to be original rather than repainted or powder coated? The panel on the seems to suggest its a 320 from 1980 http://www.normandym...ry/IMG_6445.JPG I wanted to know if I should keep this colour scheme if it was original or change it to the Black and Yellow. Any ideas? Edited August 28, 2012 by mick
b40rt
My 1980 TL320 bought new, with the full frame loop at the back, was black. Later ones with cut off frame loop were Pernod blue. Ross
motoswm
Dont think your 1980 would have been anything other than a black frame with yellow plastics and tank. However.....there were a batch of 1981 models sold in the UK with odd colours. The factory held an end of season party to celebrate Gilles Burgats World Championship to which all the UK dealers were invited. On display were the trials, enduro and mx models but in various combinations of plastic and frame colours which they got the dealers to vote on. They ended up by choosing the blue frame/yellow plastic option for the trials bikes. There was an SWM dealer in Yeovil called John Gillard who ran Stoford Motorcycles who did a deal with the factory to sell off all the display bikes. I have a set of blue plastics from one of these bikes which had a silver frame, and have seen another with red frame, genuine red seat and yellow plastics. mick
Thanks for the replies guys. Martin once I have a list of things I need I will be in touch. Yes its odd the frame does not look like its been black in the past and the tank does not have any signs of yellow on it, plenty of rust though! but very little inside. I'll strip it down and clean it up and then decide whether to go 'normal' colour scheme or have something a little different. Mick

mudyman
Hi I also have a red framed TL320 (with yellow plastics). The red frame seems to be the orig. colour. I have the regisration document which dates it as being 1980 and sold from new in Germany I still cant decide if i want to keep it red framed as it looks a bit strange compared to the yellow / black and red / white ones I have. trialsrfun
I do not remember seeing any with a white frame, maybe it has been refinished with a white frame as were the Bultacos of the period.
