taffe
Hi breagh, good luck with building your club. One thing that came to my mind [and I'm not suggesting a change] but I wonder if the name of the club may not be attractive to new or younger riders who are not at the "Wobblers" stage and see themselves as a wannabe star. No offence intended, maybe I've misunderstood the meaning of the word, been away from the Uk for 50 years. Our club here in Aussie years ago was called the 'Rockhoppers". And 25 years after it's demise is refered to by interstate enthusiasts, when my son or I mention we rode in Alice Springs. Cheers Taff
breagh
Valid point Taff. Worth thinking about,Wobblers def'has a inferred comic ineptitude about it. Does however invoke interest from non trials folk. Maybe I should start a sister club? That "Rockhoppers " name sounds good. Thanks.
taffe
You can use it. It was a name thats easy to remember and the newspaper loved using it, "rockhopper hits rock bottom" or "high rocks beat rockhoppers" We also had an embrioded patch made that people wore with pride. I sew mine onto each new riding shirt, 25 years later. Have a good one Taff.
cabby
Thanks again folks. We're still picking up members, but still lose a few as is natural. We're still like a secret society at times,I feel this is our greatest burden. I've said similar before, there's plenty riders out there if only they knew about trials. Cheers. To be fair, you have introduced lots and lots of riders, particuarly your side of the water, no idea how to get folk on my side involved, and it's not through the want of trying, which takes me back to my previous posting, I think they see the vids and think....hmm,,,what a load oh pish, how to get them on a bike is another issue. sherconoob
bump. what a great thread. i hope you guys don't mind but i grabbed a pile of these ideas and slapped together a post over on trials australia here: http://www.trials.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9401&p=33706#p33706 i don't know what the policy is on duplicate posts, but would it probably be okay to post it up here as well? i'd be keen to see what other ideas might come out of the woodwork on this forum.
