huwlloyd
i have been having some trouble getting a good spark on my 2002 beta techno 250, the spark that i am getting is very weak and will only jump a small gap, i have ruled out the spark plug, HT lead and coil. the only other thing that i could test is the stator. I dont think that it would be the cdi unit? my plan was just to measure the resistance in the stator to see if they had gone? Does anyone here know what the resistance values for stator coils on my bike should be?
tazz229
460-480 ohms between the brown and red wires. That's for a Rev3 and 1999 techno maybe someone will know if its the same. I think they are because the replacement unit covers Beta 1999 to 2002 http://www.splatshop.co.uk/stator-repair-exchange-beta-rev-4.html Edited September 22, 2012 by tazz229
huwlloyd
Thanks for that ill have a look tomorrow after work and ill let you know how is all goes. I also had a look at the wires coming from the cdi unit which goes to the coil and notices that there was some water in the protective cover over the wires which goes into the cdi unit itself. at least if i know that the stator is good then it must be the cdi :S

If ya got a friend maybe with the same bike ya could try borrowing his/her unit??? Good luck with it I hope it's the CDI and not the stator it's cheaper lol
huwlloyd
I took the stator to work today and measured the resistance i only got 230 ohms :/ anyway i sent the stator off to westcountry windings, hopefully ill be back on the bike soon, at least now i have plenty of time to get some of those little jobs that need to be done on the bike
