Just got a set from haven & he only charged me £80 for the pair. He assured me they were as good as any other brand so thought it was worth a try.

Not tried them out yet though as I spent over 4 hours cleaning 4 layers of silicone off the inside of my rim (curtesy of the previous owner).

Sparky, please keep us updated on how they perform mate. Hopefully theyre better than the other alternatives out there.

Chewy - Do you know if Michelin will still make the x lite ?

just do the sheet of glass trick. push down and watch the knobbles. if they close up completely then its no good.

done this with so many tyres over the years and only the mich's dunlops and irc have passed this test.

not heard anything about x11's ceasing production though yet. is it just the dodgy tube type non radial one thats being scrapped i wonder? they were useless.

I wouldn't panic. Michelin are not likely to stop making one of the best tyres ever made for trials. If they cease making a certain one they will surely have a throughly tested replacement. They aren't daft.

These gold tyres sound really interesting. If a set can cost only

I've tried cheap tyres before just hoping some Chinese factory found a way for knocking out a quality tyre for half the price. Unfortunately they haven't and they were junk. I think they were called Midas. They look good in the photo but that's where it stops. Unfortunately you get what you pay for.

I do however hope i get proved wrong

midas or mitas --> mitas being part of the trelleborg/barum/etc east european tyre group. its a budget trials tyre like the vee rubber. cheng shin (part of maxxis) list one but last i herd maxxis uk don't bring them into the UK - again a budget tyre. there where some heidenau budget trials tyres - don't know if they caught on.
