iain85
Hi all, I'm new here and to the sport. I currently greenlane on an ktm 250exc and am looking at getting a trial bike for fun and to improve my off road riding. Can anyone recommend the best bike make and cc to get started with as I'm confused where to begin. I'm 15 stone without gear so wondering if the 125 might be a bit small for me? Thanks a lot, Iain
dadof2
200 Beta? I would go for a 250, if its a handful, fit extra base gaskets or retard the timing a hint to soften the power a bit - you can always put it back when you are more experienced. Try before you buy 125s can be a bit lacking torque at low revs and this may make them harder to ride, particularly clutching them in non stop trials. pindie
200 Beta. You won't regret it and you will learn much more without being scared.
iain85
Thanks for the advice, I would like to try before I buy but don't know anyone who is into trials unfortunately. I will look for a 200. Anything particular to look out for on them?

fatbastard
The 200 is a brilliant bike not just a starter bike, it would last you years.
madmostin
Any bike is a good start as long as its not too big. Go for the best condition you can afford and you'll have a great time. I ride a beta so I'm biased but give it a go and you'll wonder why you didn't start years ago! Bvm Stroud are doing a test day but maybe a bit far for you? iain85
Right beta it is! Thanks for the heads up. Although Stroud is a bit far from me I'm heading to a local trial on the 25th to see what its all about!
