linkpin
I'm looking to do a full national trials championship in 2013; I'm currently riding at Clubman level in the South West but wanting to make the step to Expert soon. I'll hopefully be dovetailing it with a crack at a South West championship and the West of England series. Based in Devon but happy to travel, mostly. I have a modern Sherco 250 and no road licence (as yet), so it needs to be a championship with no road work and that will accept modern bikes. Does the Normandale championship have a modern category? And are most of their trials single venue? Any recommendations of championships to consider, whether from happy personal experience, vigourous spectating endeavours or wild armchair speculation, will be gratefully considered. gasserguy
Normandale are mostly road based and only for modern bikes with not so modern riders. S3 championship has a clubman route but again all road based. Answer, Get road legal.
jimmyl
Normandales previously start at over 40's on modern bikes and have several rounds on the road. S3 are also heavily road biased unless the MSA thing puts a stop to it. The Expert class in the British Champ is probably the only one that meets your criteria as all will be off road and cater for any adult on a modern bike. tomch
Kenya! There are only 3 rounds and 4 other trials bikes. There are ver few tar roads and in the interesting bits police aren't so bothered if you ride sensibly and have a helmet. You will be bled dry for duty and tax if you bring a bike in however! gasgas249uk
Does anyone have a list of the Normandale Championship dates for 2013 and a general list of the major trials up and down the country? It would be great if you could copy and paste them up. Thanks in advance
gasserguy
It's all on the ACU web site but dates are still provisional at the moment ! http://www.acu.org.uk/uploaded/documents/2010-Folder/2013-TRIALS-FIXTURE-LIST-DRAFT-1a.pdf

linkpin
Cheers all for the advice. Looks like I'll be doing as many trials down here as possible then, ready for an assault on a championship next year once I'm road legal and ready for the expert route. Is this a gap in the market for a championship for which you don't have to road legal, or am I in a small minority of people without a licence?
