hiya im new on here guys

iv just bought a sherco HRD 50 recently fitted with a

italkit 74cc big bore kit

full conti racing exhaust (slung under)

dellorto 21mm carb with a little chrome air filter propperly jetted

it has a different sprocket set up

iv got a conti racing clucth with it brand new not fitted at minute

apparently it is runing somthing between 8 and 14 bhp

the owner before me desided to keep the engine well lubricated so he decided to pre-mix straight into the tank (full tank + 1 shot and a good shake)

it was fully stripped down to the frame about 6 months ago since then the engine rebuild done around 400 500 miles

i dont realy know that much about these bikes so any information about them will be great

i cant realy seem to find alot of parts for these bikes so people if you know any websites what does tuning parts and standard parts will be great

and the bike has an am6 engine init 6 speed

THANKS

Hi Dannyboy

Great that you've got into biking and are tuning your bike. I'm 42 and havent stopped tinkering with bikes yet.

On the specifics of your post, i'm not sure how many forum members will be ale to help you as most people are involved in trials competition or trials bikes. As well as trials bikes, Sherco make Enduro bikes and clearly some road bikes such as yours, however there are different forums that specialise in those specific bike types.

Having said this, i hope someone can help you or point you in the direction of some HRD specialist help.

Good luck

Dominic

Hi

a couple of minutes browsing gave me a bit of info,

MRS are the importer (same as trials bikes). I think the engine may be shared with other bikes (Aprillia), hence the ability to share tuning parts.

This link points you to a spare parts manual. http://www.malcolmra...okandPrices.htm

If you can find out which Aprilia the engine is shared with i;m sure this will get you a long way.

Regards

Dom

The AM6 is a Minerelli engine as I recall. I think Beta uses them as well in their enduro/motard bike. Should be lots of stuff out there for them.

I think they are ok in standard trim, but too much hopping up on these small things can create a time bomb as they rev quite high!

  • 2 weeks later...

I too have a sherco HRD 50, a great bike -- now, these are well balanced and a joy to ride, ours is a 2003 model which was badly abused by previous owners.

MRS are a good source for genuine parts and sound advice, i have always found them easy to deal with and the parts always arrive complete and as ordered.

There are lots of after market bits around so be careful.

The minarelli AM6 engine is great and very responsive, big bore kits do add a lot of extra pressure to the crank case and bearings so make sure the mix is done with a top quality 2 stroke oil, we find castrol makes a great improvement to smooth running, however we have the auto lube working with a minor mod to ensure good lubrication at all times. No need to over rev the little engine, this just ruins it!

Don't forget to put antifreeze in the radiator, and keep the gearbox oil clean, we replace every 500 miles.

Happy Days.

Oh if you have indicators could you tell me how they are fitted because our indicators have caused me nightmares, thanks.:ph34r:
