huski
Unfortunatly you get penalised for loyalty with some insurance companies. It's always worth getting alternative quotes whatever you're insuring,a lot of people get ripped off if they just accept the renewal quote
paul w
both the company's you mentioned are brokers and don't actually insure your bike (an insurance company does.) Do both company's give you the same package , excess etc? (no) its a bit like saying all trials bikes are exactly the same, just the price differs. If you went to but a new telly, and found one slightly cheaper, would you slag of the other company for trying to sell it for more? P.S. not biased in the slightest, but wait until you have to claim. steve
Cheers Nick, this post reminded me I need to sort mine out. I dug out the renewal and MCE wanted £210 !!! So went online and got a quote from Bennetts - £180 getting better then carole Nash £132 - better still. Out of interest I then went on MCE site and quote was £111 !!!!! Didn't want to give the robbin gits my money though so In the end I went on go compare and got some for £91 through a broker with Aviva. Just hope I never have to claim. chewy
Its just part of modern living, everybody seems to want to get as much as possible for as little effort as possible. It seems as we are such a fragmented group of consumers poorly represented we just have to look out for ourselves. I did notice on my last agent /broker policy/invoice that the broker makes more than the insurer...typical uk businessmen ............ ( unfortunatly, this appelation can frequently be abridged to a four letter word of your choice). What further irritates me with my chosem make of bike is that there is an importer yet the new models don't appear on the comparison engines..and have to be dealt with by a broker as a grey import..It's not for me to get teccy about how this is done suffice to say top marks to Steve Saunders for getting Jotagas listed....I find for me 3pf&t JTG 250 comes in at £70.00...believe me I take all the cost factors into consideration when buying a new bike. One should also remember that we are consumers in a leisure "industry" and expect to be relieved of our money at every opportunity....well that seems to be the general mindset. martin 305
Hi I insure with Msm and have done for the last three years and have found them to be the exception to the insurance merry go round !! This year I got 9 points for speeding and was not looking forward to the renewal quote but to my surprise it was £16.00 extra
crowley
I will never insure with CN ever again. After being with them, claim free for over 15 years, my renewal quote on a multi bike policy for this year, doubled to over £900. I told them to shove it, and asked the reason for this increase. They told me that Equity Redstar would no longer insure my Ducati 1198 and the new quote was from a different company. After moaning about this to the bloke on the phone, he told me to hang on and he'd see what he could do. I complained, that since I was paying CN to act as a Broker, he should have done this in the first instance. He came back to me with a new quote of just over £420. When I asked who this company was giving this most recent quote, he sheepishly told me that it was Equity Redstar!! I shared my wisdom with this bloke; doubting his parentage and honesty, and surprisingly he didn't hang up but continued trying to give me a garbled explanation - I just told him I thought this was dishonest and would never insure insure with them again, even if it cost me more, and followed this up with a letter of complaint to the Ombudsman. Several weeks later, I got a groveling apology from the bandits at CN. This experience, fair made my wee boil!
2stroke4stroke
I've been with Norwich Union, now Aviva, unbroken for forty years and the renewal premium is quite acceptable (but Aviva won't allow me to go direct) and the broker this years wants a 50% fee, effectively for posting two letters. It would appear that the insurance broker is voluntarily becoming an endangered species in this era of internet insurance.
