Recommended Posts

Well the year is already two months old and with the arrival of February it must be time for the Peak Classic Trials Clubs 2013 Club Championship to commence with round 1 at Dudwood Farm, near Elton, Derbyshire. Start time as usual will be 11.00 am and also as usual we will be having classes for British Bikes, Pre85 Twinshocks and Pre95 air Cooled Monoshocks. One new award for this year will be an over 60's championship so along with effectively 5 routes namely Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman , the two Classic routes being 50/50 combinations, there is something for everybody.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control the catering service will have to be suspended for this event but we should hopefully be back to normal for the next round onwards.

For more details then please visit our website www.peakclassic.co.uk

After the event and starting at approx 3.00 , dependant on clearing up after the trial quickly as we cant leave till we do, there is the presentation of last years awards at the Miners Standard Inn close by.

So hopefully see you there.

Hi old trials fanatic

Have just had a look at your clubs ( peakclassic ) great website easy to get around and looks good to.

Im planing to get a bike like i use to have but have been trying to get my head round twinshocks machine eligibility i was thinking until i read your

rules and regulations just pick a bike that is in my budget enter as a special and have fun, but after reading them i think i have a better understanding

of what to look out for it seemed lots of bike have stuff done to them after 30 years. Im just going to ride and chat to people really. so thanks for making it clear

Was really thinking of getting a nice looking fantic but was wondering why it had not been snapped up at that price so i had a chat with him and he said it had started

out as a fantic 240 but it now had a 200 engine from the next year so my guess was that means there is a good chance its from a mono. So its a special ?

so i need to have some one that knows about fantics if thats what im getting is the any thing to look out for on the first fantic 200 that would take it out of the

twinshock class ? im 50 and a bit -_- so would like some thing light and forgiving to help me back onto a motor bike trials moved to mountain bike over 20 years ago so i could do more riding

Bultacorock I notice your location is Switzerland so thing may be very different over there. A lot of clubs are starting to tighten things up on Twinshocks so that they don't go the same way as Pre65. Might be a bit late as the horse may have bolted already. All I can say is try to buy a bike that has been looked after and is quite original rather than one that has been blinged up and has non std parts from modern bikes fitted. Fantics are good bikes but as they are one of the more competitive bikes in Twinshock tend to be more expensive than equally good bikes, for a clubman, like a Bultaco or TY Yamaha for example. So best to check as always what is acceptable with whichever club you ride. That's why I deliberately stated the eligibility requirements on our website. Good luck. Oh thanks for the kind comments about our website.

52 youre just a spring chicken LOL. Best bet for you IMHO would be find a nice TY175 which are good VFM bulletproof and have good spares availability and will handle whatever you care to throw at them plus if you decide to sell are almost guaranteed to get your money back, well almost, too. Fantics and Honda TLR's are great bikes but soooooooo expensive to buy a good un.

If you are ever in the area pop over to one of our trials for a look see.

The TY 175 sounds like a good idea i have seen that you get a lot for your money with the TY i had a go on one when i my last Bultaco and after we both

looked at each other... like mine better ! i guess its just what your use to and now im a bit older and wiser he he well i would like to think so......

May be the TY 175 is just right for me now and it would keep me nicely with in my price range.

I feel like a spring chicken until i get up ...... i have started to fall to bits  bit early er than planed but i still have some get up and go left.

I have some friends from Chapel en le Frith its really beautiful round there. I seem to remember you had lots of nice streams with big steps ( small water falls that use to get the better of me ....... all those years ago.

I was thinking i will try to time one of my trips home to fit in with some Classic trials to watch the twinshock bikes and look at the sections they are riding. I still ride a mountain bike in the summer like i use to ride my trials bike ( too much snow winter to see the trails ) going slowly and picking my line they call it technical single track :D the bike about 15 kg with fox air shocks front and back 20cm discs and with me being the engine i will never be overpowered. in the wrong gear most of the time .... Im not into going fast never have been, hope i can manage to have some fun again with nice little twinshock, im not in a rush to pick which bike but i will have a go on a TY 175 before i make my mind up so thanks for the feed back

Will be fun come along and watch and look at the bikes again really looking forwards to it.

Bultacorock you sound just like our target audience we have three Classic Clubs here in the Derbyshire Peak District which means you can usually ride three weekends of the month which seems to suit most riders because they sometimes cant get their pass signed every weekend but when they can there is usually something on. Keep watching the website for event details and hopefully see you at one of our trials whichever bike you buy.
