baldilocks
Bedlington Motor Club will be running the third edition of the Alwinton Two Day trial on the weekend of the 22/23 June 2013. Alwinton is a small village in rural Northumberland about 45 minutes North West of Newcastle. Each year the club has worked with local farmers and the Forestry Commission to extend the course. The Club would like to have an established two day trial and are hoping to attract riders from around the country to enjoy our event. This years event will be a single lap on the Saturday and a two lap trial on the Sunday. Saturdays route will be 30 sections including streams, shale, quarries, rock outcrop and even a little mud. There will also be a lunch and petrol check, much of the route is on forest trails and moorland tracks. If you have never done a single lap trial this could be for you as its all off road and the club provide three routes, Expert, Clubman and Easy. Sunday will be 2 laps of twenty sections on similar terrain. The event will be a no stop trial as the land is almost perfect for a no stop trial with lots of natural terrain. In 2013 the event will start and end each day at the Clennel Hall hotel which will be the headquarters for the event. The hotel will be providing food and drink throughout the weekend and are offering discounted rates to competitors. If you wish to book a room please ring the hotel, 01669 650377, don’t use the online booking service. Clennel Hall are happy to restrict access to trial officials, spectators and competitors if there is enough interest so if you want to stay there get in touch with them now. Take a look at their website, Clennell Hall Country House Hotel - The Official Website and they also have a Facebook page. In addition the Hotel are happy for people to camp in their grounds at £15 per tent. In addition the Rose and Thistle in Alwinton village are providing the lunch check on the Saturday, they also provide accommodation and are only a mile from the start, telephone 01669 650226, The Rose and Thistle, Alwinton. Again you can camp in their grounds, fee to be negotiated. baldilocks
Quick update I spent saturday and sunday marking out some sections for the trial. Thanks to Paul Battensby and Rob Dyson for helping out. Thirteen of the required 50 sections for the weekend are now sorted and there are some photos on the bedlington motorclub facebook page. There have been problems with illegal riders in the area recently and both the Forestry Commission and the Police have been involved. The photos are being shown to show the different types of sections dont go and try and find them or you bike is likely to be confiscated. We get prior permission including reg. of vehicles to set out the course and have permission for the trial. Other than that no vehicle is permitted in the forest. Entries close on the 7th June so we can sort out the lunch check and set the sections to suit those entered. You can enter online at www.bedlingtonmotorclub.co.uk for further details see the entry in the TC Calender
