tog Posted March 14, 2013 Report Share Posted March 14, 2013 Just bought a set of TY175 footrest mounts from Sammy Miller and received them yesterday. I mentioned to them that I had read that they were a bit weak and they were most indignant saying that they had no reports of this! The backing plates are 5mm thick with the sections that hold the footrest 4mm thick. The bracket quality is OK but the footrests are obviously made to a budget with rust showing on the internals of the chromed footrests on receipt. tony283 Posted March 14, 2013 Report Share Posted March 14, 2013 The TY175 SM pegs and brackets are not as big as the TY250 set and therefore do not bend as the footrest mount is farther forward. The TY250 set has the footrest mount further back and that tends to bend in towards the frame, however it can be bent back without too much hassle. What did you do to accept the lower bolt in the frame? The tube is quite thin. Did you weld in a threaded plug? Was it tricky to avoid interference with the kickstand? The lower cross tube on some models of the TY250 has a threaded hole, as this one has, which I think has a TY250B frame. People who have a TY250 without the threaded hole fit a threaded steel plug into the tube. Some are welded, some with an interference fit. The stand is not an issue on this bike. It is mounted to the right hand side of the swingarm and does not interfere with the footpeg. It sounds like your TY250 might be an A model with the stand mounted to the main frame under the left side footpeg. This is an old photo.
