scot taco
I did search this forum before asking, but I did not get a real conclusive answer. On my end silencer(club foot) that I have cut open to re-pack.Do I need to replace the fine screen material that was under the packing around the perforated tube or is it not necessary with new modern packing? no balance
I could be way off, but I think the fine screen material you talk of could be part of the spark arrestor system that had to be fitted to meet American regulations, if so wouldn't think you need to replace it just bin it. woody
I can't recollect any screen material around the perforated tube but when I've repacked mine it is just the packing around the tube, nothing else. Works fine. I think the screen is to help the packing last a bit longer and not get pulled through the tube with the passage of the exhaust gas.
colinf
My 191 clubfoot did have the fine gauze around the tube.I binned the gauze and replaced the perforated tube then repacked.
