luckaz
I am looking at a new 2013 bike. Trying to decide between the OSSA , Beta, and Sherco. I'm an intermediate rider. We ride woods with steep hill climbs and steep rock sections, some longer trail rides; all in big mountains (British Columbia). Any comments on the Ossa bikes? Some people are saying the the FI isn't quite there yet, Carbs are still better. How about general quality and reliability? Any suggestions what you would buy if you could get a new 2013? Thanks from a research (and trials) addict.
b40rt
23 pages on "hard to start" would answer the question for me !
trials ossa
go for an ossa! you will be pleased, as for the bad starting i have never had a starting problem with both of the ossas i have had, a few small niggles but you cannot fault the service from birketts! what other trials bike comes with 2 year warranty? All the bikes on the market have there plus sides and bad side so it is just what you prefer.
eddie_lejeune
i think they are a heap of rubbish- not a patch on a beta or gas gas , they are the only bikes id buy
topcat
i think they are a heap of rubbish- not a patch on a beta or gas gas , they are the only bikes id buy Would go for the Ossa as more reliable than those two
canada280i
I would.........If only I could come with a legit way to spend the education fund on a new 300 factory R without the wife being suspicious.........
steveo
Looking at picking up my third Ossa very soon and cant wait. The best thing about the Ossa is it would be ideal for what you are looking to do, trialing and some exploring. If you are not aware, I can tell you you have the most knowledgeable and helpful Ossa dealer right there in Canada who goes that extra yard to help anyone that uses this forum. Iv never lost so much in such a short time with a trials bike. When Ossa main dealers won't take Ossa's as a trade in things aren't good. However if the reliability issues are sorted with the 2013 bike then things will improve. The SSDT will answer that question! Overall they are an excellent bike but some serious issues hold them back.
old ozzie
I have a 2013 TR280, and yes I am not completly happy with starting from cold (no problem when warmed up) other wise extremely happy with the Ossa, but I am giving very serious consideration to a 300R. So YES, I would do it again, and hope to.

midlife
Had a Gasgas 2009 280 cost me a lot of cash to keep going, and gearbox put me out SSDT. Had a Sherco 2011 250 rode SSDT parts bill for week £7 for the plastic sprocket guard. Have a Ossa 2011 like it alot a couple of small probs, planning to keep it for years. kbtrials
Without a doubt YES. Love the bike and how easy it is to handle. I've had no major issues and no probs getting it started. If the starting is an issue your dealer has a very low cost solution so I wouldn´t worry about that. Power delivery is a bit different than compared to a carb engine, more linear power delivery in my opinion and a smoother bottom end. Try them all and then decide which suits you best! breagh
Loads of Ossas in this area, mainly due to the backup of the local dealer. I think most buy them because they're a bit different. Appeals to the individual in us. LIke the FI set up as I've spent too long cleaning carbs and filters. i
