bultacorock
Been looking on the www trying to find some info / photos of Fox rear shocks to fit my bultaco, think they use to make shocks for trials bikes ? If you know of any links that could help then please post them below Any info / or photos so i know what to look for or were to look would be a really big help and i would be very great full for your time. Have been riding mountain bikes for the last 25 years and as soon as Fox started making mountain bike shocks they were so much better than the rest of the stuff on the market they cost a bit more, you got so much more performance for your money. So i was thinking it would be nice to try and find a pair for my bultaco sherpa Thank you for reading my post all the best
b40rt
I had a pair on a 1980 SWM, expensive at the time, yes, good no. Standard gas girlings were better. 2stroke/4stroke on here has a pair. Edited April 5, 2013 by b40rt
bultacorock
Hi b40rt Thanks for the feed back on how they performed compered to gas girlings
tony27
I have a pair, they're pretty simple inside. Parts were easily gotten from the states including manual but the trials type don't come up for sale very often Would have to agree on how they work, they felt quite firmly sprung with not much damping from memory or it may have been the other way around, didn't seem to move much after the initial movement & really didn't help with grip etc This is the best place to get parts & info from, Thor has a really reputation & is great to deal with http://ltthor.home.comcast.net/~ltthor/forsale.html

bultacorock
Hi b40rt I use to have a really nicely setup SWM in 82 one of the lads from the south Liverpool club i use to ride with got one of the other 3 that Martin did not pick he said 4 came over from SWM and Martin had first pick and he got the one left over ...... was never sure if he was winding me up or not but it was magic to ride way to good for me and always egged me on till i was in way over my head Billy was about the same size and weight as me. So you have the best one the one Martin picked out Well Done that must really special to ride. I had a friend from work who got him self a bran new 348 mont and his mate had a new looking SWM mine was over 3 years old at the time old looked a bit tatty they had no idea how magic that bike was to ride, they took me to there practice place and after we had a bit of a go at there sections i was just plalying the SWM made standard sections fun endless grip and engine that would pull from nothing in 4th it was all about if i could stay over the bike and hold on long enough to finish the line. It came to swop bike time I was asked would you like to have a go on a new SWM so you can see the difference in the new model, he was so upset he almost would not talk to me after he had a ride on my Magic but tatty old SWM My work mate called me the B word i had made the mistake of telling him that i had paid 400 GBP for the bike and a nice trailer Thats the day that it sunk in its not about how shinny it is its who put it all together and the things they did to it when they were putting it together. BR Thanks for letting me know you have Martins bike.

chuckindenver
look into rockshocks.. little pricey...but seem to work very well, hate to say it...iv seen redwings on my buddies bikes, that have been giving them years of good service.
2stroke4stroke
Well the pair I have I bought for a Fantic 200, partly because they were rebuildable. I can't really remember what they were like but must have been better than the standard ones or the Girlings off the 348 (at least they didn't bend of their own volition unlike typical Girlings). But I did fit softer springs - I've still got the originals too. They got me round the Scottish OK so I must have been happy enough with them.
axulsuv
Hey CID... Do the Red wings have decent dampening ? I ask 'cause the cheap shocks that are on the back of the big wheeled TY80 I built for my son are useless ... it might as well be rigid! I http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/20753-serious-ty-80-mods/ The length on them works , but The dampening is WAY to firm even with my 200 + lbs on the bike , I've tried it with one spring and it's still just as motionless ! I just want something that resembles a trials shock for him and there are Red Wings on the bay at the right length and price ... Should I try some ? they CAN'T be worse than whats on it now ! Thanks for your vote Glenn
