ric h
It's in the way when changing the air filter.Do i just pull out on the clip and push down? It must be really tight.I might need a new air filter soon. Are they expensive?
canada280i
You don't actually need to remove the ecu, it will pull past the ecu on the way out and will squish past it on the way in
jsp
has anyone fitted a 2013 filter set up to a 2012 bike ?
jsp
ric h the ecu is sat in a trough shaped in the airbox it unclips from there and should unclip from the plug, when you get it apart check the ecu pins and the plug pins as the do either get water in or condensation and start to go green and fir up, I cleaned mine and refit it with a good helping of electrical silicone grease jsp
canada280i
has anyone fitted a 2013 filter set up to a 2012 bike ? I have but it was not straightforward and required some modification of the 2013 filter. It works great but would be much better with the ecu moved as per the new bikes, however that piece of kit is very expensive
jsp
canada280i can you elaborate on how modified the air filter or send photos, ive got a the 2013 kit here but then realised that the ecu was in the way. whats very expensive a new wiring loom ? jsp
canada280i
Hi JSP, I will try to get some pics up about the process, unfortunately I did not take any when I did it so will have to dissasemble. To get it to fit with the ECU still in place required a modification to the bottom portion of the filter and a mod to the top portion (cage and foam). The major issue with the new style is that with the ECU in place the new filter is too long (or tall) so you have to actually shorten the filter foam to about the same height as the old style filter so that the top of the filter rests below the bottom of the ECU. The wiring loom was the new kit I was referring to, I would imagine in the UK the full kit (including new style filter) is around $150?
