gazzaecowarrior
If I ever get the shock off (see previous post) I was just wondering how to remove the rear shock spring. Mines a bit rusty in places and I was going to either paint it or powder coat it. But could somebody explain to me how to remove the spring. Also, will the shock have to be re-gassed afterwards or will it be unaffected by the spring removal. Help would be appreciated. 0007
It's pretty straight forward, you spin off the adjusters and the spring comes off But measure your installed spring length first so you can set preload back in the same place

If you spin off the adjusters they would then have to pass over the larger body of the shock. How do you get this bit off ?
0007
I think you slacken the adjusters til the spring is slack then the top Clevis just slips off
gazzaecowarrior
Thanks for that. The swingsrm end of the shock is seized in the swing arm so i should still be able to get the spring off then
