brianc5514 Posted April 21, 2013 Report Share Posted April 21, 2013 hi people i have just bought my sons a wee ty80 to play around on i have had racing quads ect but never trials bikes and have a few questions on the matter firstly in the oil chamber at the kick start is dry what kind of oil should be in there and how much and secondly the front shocks are squelching when brake is pressed are they knackered or have they lost oil ect if not how do i fill them to level the bike was advertises as a pw 80 so the guy thought i had seen bigger ty,s before but never owned one of these bikes thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
axulsuv Posted April 22, 2013 Report Share Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) It should have a dipstick in the oil fill hole , Remove dipstick . wipe off , and reinsert without screwing back in ...and see were the level measures .. the ty 80 will be fine with straight 30wt. motor oil in the crankcase ... axulsuv Posted April 23, 2013 Report Share Posted April 23, 2013 From A 74 ty80 owners manual ; 85cc each , Non -foaming hydraulic fluid 10, 20, 30. wt. I think I had ran 10wt. in my son's ty80 when it still had the original forks on it. There is a drain screw on the ty80 forks so you can get get 99% of the oil out of them before refilling . Get a OE owners/service manual for it if you can it has all the info you will ever need for the little bike , they show up on ebay all the time !
