mokwepa
Hi guys. What size chain would a 2007 Rev3 use? Im guessing a 520 but the current chain on my beta looks smaller than a 520. Anyone know for sure?
dadof2
Standard is a 520 but I have seen kits chain and sprocket kits advertised that are a smaller size. Smaller chain reduces weight, friction and vibration but they stretch / wear faster.
charlie chitlins
I love o-ring chains. I'll take the extra 9 ounces weight for a chain that will probably last the whole time I own the bike. No nasty lube, either. Just clean it and spray on a bit of silicone to condition the o-rings.
chuckindenver
520 non O ring chain. or you will have issues. Edited June 25, 2013 by chuckindenver

mokwepa
Thanks guys. My pops took a vernier to his 2013 Evo 300's chain against a 520 and its spot on the money. He also doesnt run a o ring for clearance issues with his rear sets (track bikes not trials). O rings are apparently wider than standard. Thanks again. charlie chitlins
I keep a length of o-ring chain around to check clearance. it's true that some bikes don't have enough room.
guys
Some 520 trial chains will look smaller because the outer dimensions are actualy smaller. The roller diameter and the distance between the roller pins is of course the same as a stadard 520 chain. O, X and W-chains could have larger outer dimensions and might not fit through the chain tensioner.
kevine
Anybody try DID 520 VT2? It is marketed as a direct replacement for 520 non o-ring chain. I couldn't find outside chain dims on the website so not sure if its too wide?
