ktmrider
Purchased used OSET 16 36v from a dealer in pittsburgh that was virtually brand new, not a scratch on it. From the onset the batteries longevity and strength didn't seem juth ast right. Son has ridden bike (he's 6 and around 50 lbs with potentiometer fully open) probably 8-10 times. Longest ride until batteries ran out was just under an hour mostly tight trials stuff with a few wide open jaunts through the field. On to my problem, he rode bike last week and charged bike till green light and removed charger last week. Sat until yesterday when he went to ride, he turned on key and batteries were dead (one red dot on throttle). I just assumed he left key on so I went to connect charger and as soon as i plugged charger in, relay started clicking and charger light cycling from green to red which makes me suspect that there is a short somewhere. Anyone else had an issue like this? Thanks so much.
gwhy
is the key switch in the off position when you are connecting the charger ?. is the key switch operational i.e when in the off position is it really off ? , do the batteries charge if you remove the relay ? betarambo
gwhy is the definte expert here so he will probably get you hooked up once you answer his questions. I would make sure the key is off and try charging again. I am wondering if key on plus dead batteries draws so much current that the charger protects itself. This then stops charging, which in turns stops the draw from the relay which then starts the charger again. It kind of makes for a nasty cycle. I have noticed a lot of older bikes with bad connections to the battery. I understand that yours is not old but it is pretty quick to check the spade terminals on there and make sure they are clean and snug. ktmrider
Thanks for the replies. Yes, when i plugged in charger the key was off. I'm going to pull the batteries and check all connections and then have a go at charging again. I'll report back on where I stand. Thanks so much for the help.
