Has anyone used or seen this tire? They are available in the states now. I wondering if it is a suitable replacement for the discontinued Michelin tube type 4.00x18. It might be a good tire for vintage bikes.

Please don't use the Heidenau!

It is almost the same rubish as a Pireli.

A alternative is the Mitas, they make a tube type rear tyre.

Also you can choose any kind off tyre you like, you can fit an inner tube inside a tubles outer without any problems.

We don't have a TT Mitas here in the USA.

I agree with your opinion of the Pirelli, that's what I'm trying to avoid.

I should explain that I'm considering this tire for trail and possibly vintage bike use. Not for modern Trials competition. Conditions that I used the TT Michelin succesfully for before it was discontinued.

The IRC wears very quickly when used on paved roads, which I usually ride for some distance to get to the trails.

Yes they would be o.k. for trailriding or on streetscramblers and not for competition. The compound is very hard.Best tyres for classicbikes (road)in 18/19/21 is the Bridgestone Bt 45,use it on Duc 750Gt-900SS-Scrambler 250 and Yamaha XJ 550.

Is Vee Rubber available, probably good enough for these applications.

Yes they are available here. I have a Scorpa that came with them. In the first 20 minutes of riding in the rocks the sidewall developed a long crack (not a cut). That left me un-impressed with the tire. And I would prefer a tire with a tube type bead anyway.

Maybe just unlucky, a friend uses them and rates as said. We ride mostly rocks here.
