mokwepa
Hi guys Im putting on a new chain only because my sprockets show a tiny amount of wear. Can sprockets be flipped? Should I flip or leave as is?
zippy
I am not looking at my sprocket at the moment but I think each side of the sprocket is machined differently.
axulsuv
Always replace chains and sprockets as complete sets , They will last much longer .... New chain on old sprockets or new sprockets with a old chain will wear out really fast , the pieces are meant to mate together at a much closer tolerance than most think . If your chain is adjusted correctly , grab it at the back edge of the rear sprocket , if you can pull the chain away from the sprocket at all , it is worn . And the sides of sprocket teeth wear too ! Cheap insurance to save your cases and a crash .... And DO NOT flip your sprockets !!! They will wear really fast , wipe out your new chain and/or derail the chain .... And many of them are meant to be installed in one way , slight offsets etc, etc.... Edited August 6, 2013 by axulsuv
lineaway
You can just replace a chain if the chain is worn and sprockets are good. If the sprockets are worn, then it`s a complete set needed.
