xeriotti
jajajajaa I rode it today, one tank...(and a friend towed me home ) just on the flat up and down my sidewalk curbs and in some bumps to get the feeling of it...Its fun because its all new, but im not enjoying it very much, I think theres something wrong with the bike engine... it bogs when im on a downhill slope, or if i stoppie.... it stalls (and im doing it with cltuch completely pulled in and no looonnngg stopies, the problem is the bike pointing a bit down...and depending on how i use the throttle sometimes its not responsive i mean, sometimes i throttle and it does nothing... but sometime it does... I thinkg thats something wrong because theres no way to ride safely with a bike that revs different every time. or doesnt run pointing a bit down. Hope its lean or fuel level on the carb is too high or mixture is too oily or something, because if thats the way this 2 stroke bikes work, im selling it. I mean it... havnt hit any obstacle yet... just fooled around to get the feel of the bike. Im not confident with the engine beign so erratic. Maybe cause its new? but it really suck, i dont feel in control i suggest it ti throttle but it may work just fine or maybe do like...boobobobooo and lose power... Suggestions? Conclussion, not happy with the bike... Happy because its here, happy because its light but i bet its not working propperly. runs, revs, sounds great... but i feel im not in control... xeriotti
Now that ive been reading the forum... Everything seems to point in one direction.... A)My bike doesnt fell torky, firm, and safe... B)Stalls when pointing downhill or when riding a stoppie C)Huge fuel consumption D)Fuel leaking (thought it was a miinor leak when in odd angles... but its not minor at all) I really think i have a fuel level problem in the carb... Seems like the float isnt working propperly and floods my intake when the bike leans forward.... Some of the gas is spilled out, and some other goes to theengine intake...thats why its running rich at low rpm and feels boggy and lazy.... Correct me if im wrong, any suggestions is appreciated.... Anyone else had this kind of problems in their EVO??? (I read here that some other Betas had the same setup problem when new)
mokwepa
My rev3 did all of the above. I set the float high according to dan williams recommendation and it was all sorted. Im not sure what the float hight should be on a 13 evo though. My bike was a mess when I got it. Float tang was upside down, rear brake disk was on the wrong way arround and all the bearings were dry as a nun. I would expect a new bike to be sorted. guys
I also would check out the float height first and make sure the floats are mounted correctly. On some carburetors you can install them upside down And yes, a trials bike is a strange bike to ride at first but I'm sure you will be having fun on it soon

xeriotti
Whats that Dan Williams mod you Mok mentioned??? Ohhh... and forget the porn, im afraid to lose my virginity...I want to keep farting, not whispering Edited October 4, 2013 by xeriotti
xeriotti
Day 2 with the bike... Workshop time, i tried to fix the carb level problem.... I took the carb apart and bent the float to achieve the desired angle when fully closed... I did it two times, giving more angle and noticing an improvement each time.... Its actually assembled like this. Improved a bit.. But if i leave the bikes rear wheel on a 40cm ledge and the front in the ground it bogs and stalls.... Open needle. Contact point between needle and seat. Shuts fuel (maybe not supertight, but tried blowing air thru the fuel line and shuts pretty much tight) -Notice that level is even lower than reccommended by the Lampkin tutorial... Float is more than parallell with carburetor body, so level is even lower and it keeps doing pretty much the same (improved a little but still not rideable in a downward slope....need to be revd up high to keep running) Needle fully closed with spring compressed by the float weight... float parallel to carbs body in this case. Its 2PM here... Ill take the carb out AGAIN.... and will try with even less fuel level on the float, I already hated 2 strokes, Now im starting to hate trials, and motorcycles in general jajajaja Its my first brand new bike ever... Im glad i always bought used or wrecked bikes... never had problem with those... Edited October 4, 2013 by xeriotti
mokwepa
Hi bruno. Read through the pinned thread in the beta section on the rev 3 carb....it might be able to give you some ideas on how to set the tang up. In your pics, it looks like your floats are moving too much between open and close. Mine only move about 2/3mm. Trials carbs are quite finicky to fuel level because of the angle that the bikes sit motionless at........apparently. I dont know the evo300 carb at all but ill try ask our local beta guru here what could be the issue. Keep in mind the bikes are set up rich from the factory andthe jets will often need to be changed to suit your climate and altitude. Are you sure your clutch isnt slipping? Ie: you go down hill, brake, clutch doesnt disengage 100% and engine stalls??? Will try find some info for you this side of the world. Dont give up just yet.
xeriotti
Mok... i solved the problem.... I increased the level even more.... and now runs perfect with no bogging or stalling even at extreme angles... I didnt take pictures of the carb when ready, but its like picture 2, when carb is upside down.... I rode the bike in the sidewalk again...and my riding improved a lot... lots of confidence just using it like 10 minutes.. My riding is lame, messy and uncontrolled but NOW THAT IT WORKS PROPPERLY.... I liked it...
