Fuel Tanks

Hi all,

I'm just starting to make the fuel tank for my Bantam and was wondering about fuel capacity, how much fuel do you think a trials Bantam needs? I'll only be doing club events and won't be doing any road trials, is a gallon enough capacity?

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies, I made a start on my tank today (when I should have been working  ) I taped up all the seams and it holds just over a gallon. Hopefully I can finish it tomorrow, then start on something else, exhaust probably.

The tank is a really good job, what thickness alloy is it. Did you also make the side panels?

Thanks, I like the look of the tank, just have to wait and see what it's like to ride with!

The tank is made from a sheet of 2 m.m. alloy that I couldn't use for customers (scratched, but they'll polish out). I used the same sheet to make the mudguards, seat base and air filter box. I used 1.2 m.m for the side panels and number board.

I've now changed those hideous bars for some much nicer ones from Sammy Miller's.Very happy with it so far :D

Whats the cylinder head off Fantic ?

It's an early Suzuki TS 185 head, they only did a four stud head for either 1 or 2 years and the stud pattern is very close to a Bantam, as I'll be using a TS 185 piston I thought I'd get the head to go with it and found one for £15! Cut down with a grinder it looks like a B175 head ( in the dark!)
