hotshoe63
WOW!!! VERY NICE! Have fun with that. Did you replace the original wheels?
petermac
this still gets used every weekend, so no museum peices here yes the rims were changed for gasgas, but only because the originals were steel chromed
brewtus
Awesome. My motto has always been "Ride 'em, don't hide 'em". Agricon has me thinking about a Gollner mono TLR replica. That and yours has placed Bad Thoughts in my head.
guido
Brewtus, or anyone, if you were to go this sort of route with your TLR where would you look for a replacement fork, or at least an upgrade? brewtus
Brewtus, or anyone, if you were to go this sort of route with your TLR where would you look for a replacement fork, or at least an upgrade? The upgrade I would love to make is a Showa 315R fork and triple-clamp upgrade to OJ. I'd personally leave the frame alone, no cutting. If after the fanasy 315R steering upgrade it still did not steer well, then I'd hack the s*it out of the frame. Anything to make this chopper turn like a proper Trials bike should! axulsuv
Lots of folks run the 35mm Marzocchi's off the fantic 240's on them with good results . I don't know what combo of clamps and bearings they use though . (but I do have a complete set , wheel and all if my son ever gets to the serious mod's needed point ! ) Glenn Edited December 17, 2013 by axulsuv
guido
Problem is finding a set of forks here in the states. There's probably more used trials parts in the UK than in our whole country. Complete bikes come up for sale locally but it would be hard to justify buying a whole bike just for the forks. Ah well, I'll keep my eyes open How do 35mm Marzocchi's fit in a stock Relex yoke? I thought the stock tubes were 33mm.
brewtus
I've seen more than one TY350 Mono front-end upgrade on these things. I've ridden a nice modded example with the TY front end, and it was soooo much better than my stock TLR. No Good Reason and Brand Whoredom keep me chained to my decision. I was a Honda Certified Technician in a previous life, and I just can't help meself. That, and I have all the tools to overhaul those forks... guido
Funny you should mention the TY. For sale locally: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=27689213&cat=236&lpid=&search=trials&ad_cid=1 Use the fork and sell the rest. Great idea on paper, maybe, but the reality is I'd probably end up with a bunch of parts stashed in the cubby holes of my garage.
petermac
Beautiful restro and upgrades. Have y ou weighed it? Final weight as completed? not weighed it, it wont be much lighter than std reflex, main difference will be the forks, maybe 2kg
petermac
How do 35mm Marzocchi's fit in a stock Relex yoke? I thought the stock tubes were 33mm. i use the gasgas yokes with the reflex centre shaft from reflex yokes and a bit of machining
2wheeln
Well done, you did an awesome job on this bike! I am tearing into my tlr soon. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the Repsol graphics, and did the steering angle make a difference?
petermac
Respol graphics were one off specials I got a local sticker company to make Steering angle made a difference, but not as much as Gasgas gorks
