imexian Posted September 15, 2013 Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 Hi been to man 17, hipwell trial today, brill effort from all involved ! Weather bit damp, to say the least!! After the 17 section, my fantic kicked back, knackered my dodgy ankle then kept slipping when I kicked it over. Had to leave it ticking over the rest of trial. What's up? Idle gear ? grib Posted September 15, 2013 Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 I would guess it has knackered the teeth on the end of the kickstart shaft and/or the idler gear. Easy to check - take the clutch off and have a look. Idler gear easy to change, kickstart shaft means splitting the cases - not difficult but a bit more of a chore. grib Posted September 16, 2013 Report Share Posted September 16, 2013 Thinking about it - it won't be the shaft because the teeth aren't on the shaft; they are on a pawl on the end of the shaft - you could do either without splitting the cases.
