29markt
Hi all, just joined the forum after buying a semi restored 200 Cota. Would appreciate any advice on the common faults etc. Main issue been starting, due to kickstart not returning or connecting without pulling by hand to a point to kick over. Good compression and spark, good fuel etc??? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Mark.
zerorev3rev4
kickstart spring needs looking at ,also the ratchet spur needs to be in a pacific position to give the correct spring tension if not correct you could crack the side casing ,,,you might have a good spark but could be loosing it under compression ( use a car type strobe light with plug in to check ,, if no spark replace points and condensor preferably with one from a car and put under tank

29markt
Hi, is there a set procedure for removing / replacing the kick start return spring on the 200? The Kick Start seems to be engaging, but has to be manually forced into position prior to kicking, it also appears that the securing bolt on the kickstart has been fowling the casing???? Any help appreciated.

zerorev3rev4
is the bolt too long ,and the bolt head could be too big its difficult to find a bolt that does not catch ,the spring cant go on wrong i dont think ,but its the timing of the ratchet spur it needs to be on the correct spline to get the tension correct to return the kickstart to the stop correctly ,the engagement of when it starts to turn the engine also has to be correct , when you put the cover on the shaft should be sprung clockwise and when you fit the kickstart you need to turn the shaft anticlockwise to allow the grove in the shaft to align for the bolt to go through

29markt
any updates? Sorry mx coyafly 25, didnt see your post! Unfortunately no pics at the minute, but 95% of the way there, just refurbing the carb, new air filter etc. Just not confident with kick start set up, think it may have been reassembled wrong previously, see how we go!! will put pics up when available!! Cheers.
kingscorpion
It's a bit tricky, I'm afraid. Maybe you can find some help in the Clymer.
