ianj
Hi, 1999 Mont. My front suspension bottoms out rather easily. The front is a tad soft. The pre-load is screwed fully down. I'm no heavyweight. I asked Sandifords if perhaps my front spring was getting weak.....however, I did mention to them that the pre-load has always needed to be well screwed in....even from brand new. They said perhaps the wrong weight oil was in the forks which can have the effect I am getting. They said to put in 10wt oil. Comments? I had originally intended to replace the spring, or make up a small spacer of my own to fit on top of the spring. Anyways, I finally got around to ordering some much needed parts for my Mont:- New tyre Set of Aktive reeds. New air-filter Chrome front pipe. Rear suspension bearings/bushes. ......Moving house & decorating had taken it's toll on me getting out on the bike (6 months lay off!)......but I should be back on the hill in no time now! Anybody know who can re-build rear shocks? Ian.
bulsher
If there is no sag the spacer isn't nescessary, the oil change should help, also did you adjust the dampening.
subira
Mh Racing down here in the south can do your shock for you, try them on: mail@mhracing.com My view is that it's the spring. If it were the compression damping the speed to the bottom would be slower, but it will still bottom - just more slowly I would stick a spacer in first off and see how she goes. My basic physics tells me that a spring is going to lose its spring over time (bit like me really) - you might want to quiz Mark @ MH about it I assume you have the right level of oil. It might also be quantity of oil if you have lost some, it might not then be effective at full compression. Enough Red herrings to keep you busy ? Thanks......I've emailed MH so we'll see what develops......from the look of their site it's looking promising. Ian.
