A "off" Day

Hi guys

Well finished my 4th trial this last sunday.....barely. we were told it was going to be a easy event so my pops entered with me. That was short lived as we came up to section 1. It was one of those WTF moments. A 70/80 m viscous rock climb. Anyway, long story short, 2nd gear bombing it up this mountain and the bike dies on me half way up......game over. Got the bike started and completed the lap just. Changed plug before second lap so bike ran well but by that stage it was all over. Performed a spectacular superman rock biter down a rock face on lap 2 and it went downhill from there. I was just not on form no matter how hard I tried that day. I 5ed easy sections I should have cleaned. Anyway I placed 8th out of 16, allot better than I expected or deserved. A guy I normally beat by 2 or 3 positions placed 3rd. I was just not with it.

O well, enough moaning from me.....what I would like to ask is how often do you guys change your plugs? Obviously if you wait for it to fail, itll probably happen at the worst possible time, skrewing up your whole day :D

Put a Denso Iridium plug in it , and if all else is correct , you'll never worry about your plug again .... The one in my 240 is coming up on it's 4th or 5th bithday ! It get's looked at once and awhile , But still looks new ! (but yes there is another one in the tool kit on the bike , but I've never needed it .)

Glenn

PS., We all have off days ... I've done faceplants early in events , and then rode fine for the rest !

I clean and gap my plug after every ride so I know it's good for the next trial. Obviously if it fails, it fails but keeping it in good condition is half the battle.

It's a 5 minute job aswell as cleaning your air filter after every ride. Good maintenance is key to off roading.
