Gas Gas Pro Electrics Help Please!

Hello all

I have a gas gas txt pro 2005. I have recently changed the fan motor ( Which still works plugged into a separate power source) but it only lasted one ride before the fan will not cut in! it works a bit if you rev the engine really high.

I have tried joining the two wires of the thermostat together to no avail and have tried a method shown elsewhere on this forum to replace the rectifier to a cheap one (i know i know :-) )

Has anyone got any ideas as to how best problem solve this situation without replacing both all of the components? Past experiences may help.

Many thanks in advance!

Patrick

Connect a voltmeter to the fan wire connections and run the bike. Watch the voltage as you rev it up. If you have a good strong 12+ volts, it is probably a problem with the fan. If the voltage is low, check for AC voltage before the rectifier. If it is strong, the rectifier is likely the problem. If the voltage before the rectifier is low, it could be a bad connection or the stator.

As others have suggested, clean and reconnect all the electrical connections and grounds to be sure it is not just a corrosion problem.
