badmotofo Posted December 27, 2013 Report Share Posted December 27, 2013 Long story short, connect the kill switch and no spark. Depress the kill switch and there is spark. I connect a toggle kill switch and it has spark in the off position and does not in the on position. The bike is a TY80 for kids to learn on so I would like the toggle switch to read correct. skyline1 Posted December 27, 2013 Report Share Posted December 27, 2013 There are two types of circuits for kill switches- open circuit & closed circuit. It sounds like you have the wrong one. badmotofo Posted December 27, 2013 Author Report Share Posted December 27, 2013 The switch that was on the bike (not stock) and the toggle switch I tried (came from a dual sport kit) both have a black wire (male) and a ground. The bike as I received it had the black disconnected and the ground fastened to the frame. I'm not sure about open- and closed-circuit connection switches. skyline1 Posted December 27, 2013 Report Share Posted December 27, 2013 Sounds to me like your bike runs a open circuit but your kill switch & toggle switch are closed circuit. Normally when you kick off your bike & it runs then the circuit is complete. When you press the kill switch it either makes or breaks the circuit & the bike stops. yours is doing the opposite- when you press your kill switch it is making the correct circuit Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
