Hi,

In conversation with a member recently he asked that if I could find any images of a Royal Enfield 350 Bullet registered LUY 86 he would be grateful. Well, all part of the offroadarchive service I had a little trawl through the memory banks and found this image of the bike - which was described as a 'Comerford's demonstrator' and has my dearly missed old friend, Reg May aboard.

Enjoy.

What a great firm Comerford's must have been if they had a 'Comerford's demonstrator' bike available to try. Unaware of any who offer that today.

Great picture Deryk, did you take it? if so what did you use.

Hi trialsrfun,

No, this image is not one that I photographed, I don't know who took the photograph but it was loaned to me for use in ORR by Nick Nicholls.

Many of my own (and Mary's) photographs were taken on 35mm film with Canon T90's - although I also used Hasselblad medium format and 35mm Leica M3 quite a lot - dependant on the situation. Nowadays I normally use digital - but occasionally 35mm film, when I want real quality for landscape shots.

I still have our 'spare' Canon T90 - which I must sell sometime - 'cos I can see the dreaded 'photographers droop' coming on with the weight of gear in the camera bag.....

Cheers,

Deryk

commerfords did not prepare this bike, and neither did my old friend Reg May who rode it for Commerfords. LUY 86 was in fact one of John Brittain's Ex RE Factory Trials team and it also had magnesium engine castings plus numerous other ultra special 'Works Team' only components.

Hence it started life with the famous John Brittain 'HNP331' number plate as ridden by him untill it was sold off to Commerfords whence the RE factory re-registered it as LUY 86 prior to the sale. I bought it from Commerfords later and rode it in numerous trials before 'Pre-65' trials started, and many more after, before eventually taking the magnesium 350cc engine out and fitting a ex works magnesium casting 500cc engine I bought direct from John Brittain

This is how it is in the photograph you reffer to. Don Morley (Note: not Moreley)
