opdeweegh1
Hi People. Out at the weekend having a great time when I noticed that the bike started to make a weird knocking type noise, more so when trying to go up a hill or under load. Stopped the bike on level ground and gave it small revs and can still hear it as a type of top end back ground noise. Doesn't sound like a bearing of any type anyone got any ideas? Had the bike carburation system stripped down a couple of weeks ago for a clean out. The bike was running great after that and then all of a sudden the noise appeared. Could it be a lean condition? Cheers. Paul.
grib
A lean mixture tends to give a sharp, metallic knocking noise.
jtt
It wasn't doing this before the carb cleanout? Lean jetting would be my first suspect, perhaps something got caught in the pilot after cleaning? If you haven't already, you might try one richer on the pilot. These bikes all seem to come lean on the pilot. The next thing would be fuel quality, but I am assuming you are using the same fuel as previously. opdeweegh1
JTT. No the bike was running fine before and after the carb strip down. I do thik it's a carb problem though. I plan to strip it back down at the weekend as I'm at work offshore just now. I also plan to change to the Keihin PWK 28 anyway so we'll see what happens? Cheers.
