laird387
Hi, Another delve into the history of our sport reveals this very pleasant photograph of the works Norton 500T ridden in the 1952 SSDT by Jeff Smith. Both Jeff and his future brother-in-law, Johnny Draper were on Nortons that year and neither of them enjoyed much luck. They were glad when Bert Perrigo, the BSA Competition Manager who was succeeded by young Brian Martin, offered them rides on the works Gold Stars for both trials and scrambles. I can't identify the photographer but I can tell you he's using a Leica IIIa, fitted with a 35mm Summicron 'spectacles' viewfinder. Enjoy.
