top ghia
Any of you who read my "am i too old thread" will know at 47 im a Trials virgin. Anyway after buying a bike i decided to visit a trial to have a look round and see what i have let myself in for. The trial was run by Sheffield and Halmamshire club and i enjoyed it, had a chat to an observer who expalined how to get started in the sport and also how the marker flags work etc. Several of the riders said hi and i was suprised by the mix of old and new machines and riders of both genders who were there. Im quite interested in Photography so took plenty of pics some of which are on my flickr page.

ourian
Some cracking photos Gary, I like the way the subjects stand out from the back ground and you've certainly managed to bring some inanimate objects to life. As it's your first trials, what's your first impressions?

twinshocktosser
Thanks for posting the pics - very good. The mud down there was bad today!
thats_a_five
Glad to hear that you got a bike and went to an event. You got some great shots as well. I hope to read that you ride a trial soon. Have fun!
bisby
Hi there, I was there on my orange ossa. for your first trial you will have found it very slippy, at this time of year eadens is always like that (mud on the top surface and a bit more grip below) later on in the year it is different again. keep at it and ask the other riders questions, ie which line are they riding and why also which gear they are using etc. I had a choice of events on the day because there was a classic trial in Derbyshire, I went for the S&H trial because I new it would be muddy and I live near by. Ps great photos!!! Steve.
top ghia
First impressions? It looks like a good fun day out everyone had a smile on their face despite the mud being in Somme quantities. The people seem like a friendly bunch, the observer i spoke to was really helpfull too. I might be a novice but i certainly wouldnt have been the oldest there, and the youngsters were all great riders. One of my photos is of a lad halfway up the steepest bank at the trial and allthough he had a foot down near the top he made it all the way, a feat many of the adults couldnt match, the look of pride on his dads face was amazing. Eadons will be my regular practice ground as i live close by so i will get to know it very well. If the photo slideshow isnt working for you try this link. sorry i seem to have doubled up some of the shots) trials make for great photos for the very reason Ourian made the bikes and clothing make a great contrast to the suroundings. http://www.flickr.co...157639932330734 Dont know whats going on with flickr when i post a direct link i get the slideshow again.
