Early Pre-65 Scottish Trials

Hi,

Trawling through the archives in the Pre-65 Scottish selection I was struck by just how many of the overseas competitors are riding Triumph Tiger Cubs - and I appreciate that there are far many more Tiger Cubs in regular trials use these days than Triumph ever produced as trials versions, but someone obviously has a well-oiled export business for the modified units.

But having said that I was then struck by another interesting fact. Very few of the overseas Cubs have the larger capacity after-market goodies that are so prevalent in the UK?

Enjoy this shot of French visitor Jean Louis on his Cub in the 2005 Pre-65, photographed by Jack Knoops.

Hi,

Another Italian visitor, another 199cc Tiger Cub, Eugelio Gatti in the 2005 Pre-65 Scottish, photographed by Jack Knoops.

Pleasant in British Racing green - but why not Ferrari red?

Enjoy.

Hi,

Are you ready for a juicy bit of blatant bribery?

The correct tank transfer for the Ariel HT5 is the red, gold and black 'Ariel' roundel, according to the original Spare Parts List supplied by the factory, several of the factory riders occasionally used the Gold/yellow roundels used on the Golden Arrow version of the Ariel Leader - but not fitted to production units.

Here you can see an example worn on the helmet of Jean Caillou, spotted riding his HT5 in the 2008 Pre-65 Scottish by Jack Knoops.

Now here's the bribe!

I still have a small quantity of the correct waterslide transfers but I am no longer restoring Ariels so it would be far better if they were fitted on HT5 petrol tanks rather than sitting in my file cabinet!

So if anyone who is actively riding an Ariel in pre-65 trials, and there are always plenty in the Pre-65 Scottish, who takes out a subscription to the new ORRe magazine and then contacts me, (details below) I will send you completely free of charge a pair of waterslide transfers for your HT5.

Enjoy.
