daveharmon
Hi Had just agreed to buy a gas gas 125... Due to collect today, but owner tells me it just cut out this morning and he thinks its piston ring is gone... He's happy to discount the bike by £100 but is that enough to cover the cost of replacing a piston ring? Any advice much appreciated... I guess the bike is around 98-99. Currently offer accepted at £580 .... I wan the bike for my son, don't mind repairing it... but is £100 going to cover a ring... and what if its a piston? Thanks Dave
fantnick
Hi Dave, if it has an original piston, you cannot buy the rings separately, a new piston with rings + gaskets and maybe small end will set you back around £180.00. toetoe
if you really want the bike and the seller is so confident that it is the rings and it will cost around £100 then have him fix it and then buy it of him, this deal will be sold as seen so as soon as you take it their is no going back and your son will be devastated if it all goes wrong. tltel
Risky, how does he know its the rings?,(usually two), has he had it apart?, has it damaged the piston? has it damaged the cylinder plating? unless you know how to repair it your self and its more like £300 walk away from it.
