skyline1
I noticed today that I had a broken rubber mount on my exhaust so I need to replace it. I also noticed that my rear shocker spring has been rubbing on the silencer but it has not gone through. Signs that I have knocked the exhaust when I have fallen off my bike I took off the silencer & noticed that as well as the two rubber O rings seals there was some kind of silica sealant. One of the O rings was split so I guess the sealant was somebodies quick fix or is it? I have ordered the new mount & the seals but do I need anything else to seal the exhaust? I may have also knocked the front pipe out of position by about 1/2 inch( not sure) will there be enough spring in the front pipe to get it all back into position with out it ripping the lower rear rubber mount again? thanks
lineaway
Loosen the front pipe to give a little more flex. And yes you need a little sealant on the pipe at the joint. Silicon.
thats_a_five
Use the high temperature silicone sealant on the joint. If the O-rings were red, they are also high temperature, made of Viton. If they are black, there are probably normal buna-n. Buna-n does not stand heat very well and will dry out and break or burn if overheated. I do not know if Beta uses Viton or Buna-n.
