solway19
Apologies, however i am new to the trials bike world. I have got a 1975 MAR 250, it was my godfathers and he passed away last year so i am rebulding it as he wanted to do. I currently have it stripped down and have sourced most parts i need (InMotion - Great service). Just a few questions, i need the crank rebuilding, is this something that can be done at home (i am an engineer and my dad is a mechanic) or is it a specialist job? If so does anyone have any recommendations of companies to do this work? Also i am still short of a few parts, these being: Cush Drive Nut Exhaust header pipe. (must be in good nick as i am aiming for i high standard finish) Rear brake pedal/shaft If anyone could help on any of the above then i would appreciate it. basketcase
Hi, I`m in the same boat as you....in that I`m rebuilding a 250 mar. Luckily mine is complete but one or two bits are past their best. I`m having problems sourcing bits, either can`t get them or they are too expensive to ship in from America. I`ve tried a guy called Steve Sell, trading as Marlimar, recommended by a couple of guys on here but he`s never returned my, numerous, calls. Hope that you manage to find parts. Cheers, basketcase. oxboy
Hi I am in the process of rebuilding two MARS a standard 71 and a Gollner, ive used Steve Sell for parts and a bottom end rebuild, and always found his work and parts to be spot on, he does admit it can take him a while to answer calls, its not his main business and has to fit it in around work, Stick with it, Steve has a vast knowledge and huge range of spares, and im sure he will be able to help you out, if all else fails he should be at Telford later this month Regards OXBOY
woody
Solway - the parts you've listed, you're not really going to be able to get those from any specific source. More likely you're going to have to scour ebay and hope they come up from someone breaking a bike. There's no-one in particular specialising in breaking Ossas The cush drive nut isn't a normal nut, it's a top hat shape with an allen bolt head - just in case you didn't know and it's actually there in the parts you have without you realising. The brake pedal assembly is common to all MAR models, which offers a bit more hope when you see bikes being broken. The front exhaust could prove difficult. Try Wakefield Offroad as they have broken a few Ossas over the years. Steve Sell, as mentioned above runs his own engineering business, the Ossa stuff is a hobby/sideline. He's helpful and enthusiastic about Ossas but we have to understand it's not his main businees. He will be at Telford. As far as I know though, he doesn't buy up and break Ossas, so not sure what used parts he has.
trialsrfun
InMotion do offer a great service but where OSSA is concerned Steve Sell MarliMar-OSSA is the person to speak to, keep trying. As Woody says he has to fit the bike parts business around other things so do give him chance to contact you. He has booked a space at Telford if you can make it there. solway19
Thank for the replies gents, managed to get a full Cush drive from America for not bad money and decided to take the plunge and make a new brake pedal shaft, here it is, The header pipe is in good nic as far as dents but is a little pitted with rust so going to see the chrominance guy next week to see what he can do. Found a company to fit conrod and rebore the barrel and it's due back next week. Currently wet n drying the casings and polishing them, wish I never started now! Thanks again.
