mcman56
Will the new 4rt be CA green sticker compliant?
billyt
mcman I live in Irvine Ca. I have a 2014 Repsol I am trying to find out if I can get the stickers.
mcman56
Did you buy it in CA? I thought there was a new law last year requiring the dealer to obtain registration.
sirhc
It'll be a red sticker bike http://ultimatemotorcycling.com/inside-2014-montesa-honda-cota-4rt-repsol-edition-exclusive-interview/ It costs way too much to get a bike green sticker eligible even if it can pass all the tests. I forget the exact number but its really high! They would have to sell a lot of 4rt's in Ca. to cover that cost. Same reason the Beta fourstroke is a red sticker bike. billyt
Chris, So what you gonna do when your Repsol from Malcolm Smith comes along if you can only get a red sticker?
sirhc
It makes no difference in any of the places we ride trials here in SoCal. Its not a problem having a red sticker for us. As for me getting a 4rt? I already had one. No need to get another. Besides it's much prettier than those orange wheeled things they're selling now.

kramit
Just out of interest, what's a green or red sticker? Its the government of California expressing their freedom to suck money from dirt bike riders.
mcman56
Green sticker registration is good to ride all year any where in state on public lands. Red sticker can not ride in high smog areas in high smog times, basically summer near cities in valleys. All bikes 2002 and earlier are OK for green stickers. For newer bikes, including 4t enduro type bikes, manufacturers have to go to a lot of trouble to get them green sticker qualified. Based on the number of trials bikes they can sell in CA, it probably is not worth the expense. Sad but true.
